Bharathanatyam

Bharathanatyam is one of India's oldest classical dance forms, originating from the sacred temples of Tamil Nadu. AIMDUK's structured examination programme guides students through the complete spectrum — from foundational Adavus and rhythmic patterns to the grandeur of Margam, Varnam, and Padam, culminating in a Diploma equivalent to a performance degree.

Which subject should I choose as a beginner?
All three subjects welcome complete beginners at Grade 1 / Prathamam / Prarambhik. Choose based on your interest: Carnatic or Hindustani for vocal/instrumental music, or Bharathanatyam if you are passionate about classical dance. Can I take exams from outside the UK or India?
Yes. AIMDUK operates in 40+ countries. Students may sit examinations at affiliated exam centres worldwide, or opt for the Digital Examination format (Recorded Submission or Live Stream) from the comfort of their home. Registration is open internationally.
Are AIMDUK qualifications recognised by UK universities?
Yes. Higher grade examinations carry UCAS points recognised by UK universities for entrance purposes. AIMDUK is also OQFAL accredited. Please refer to the UCAS website or contact us for the latest tariff information by grade and subject.
How do Digital Examinations work for dance subjects like Bharathanatyam?
For Bharathanatyam, digital exams are available for selected grades via video submission. Students record their performance in a suitable space and upload through our secure portal within the designated examination window. Full guidelines are provided in the syllabus and examination handbook.
